Editor's review
This software tool lets Printer Command language or PCL based files to be converted to several other popular formats.
PCL is the standard print format for HP LaserJet-compatible printers. Printer control language (PCL) was introduced by Hewlett-Packard as a simpler, faster and less expensive alternative to PostScript-based laser printers. This PCL Reader 32-bit will be able to let you preview & convert PCL and text files into PDF, PDF/A, XPS, TIFF, BMP, PNG, JPG, PCX and ASCII Text. You would be able to get these files printed through any Windows compatible printers. This is useful when you have a non-LaserJet PCL printer and need to print an invoice, loan, or other type of PCL document from legacy applications that require PCL4/5/5e LaserJet printers. You could, simply extract ASCII text from the PCL files for data migration and archiving purposes. PCL Reader can extract all the text objects found in a PCL file into an internal format and then there is a tool included TNXDumpG.exe that can let you format the extracted text into any of 9 different text reporting formats for data migration.
The tool is compatible to 32-bit and 64-bit environments of Window operating systems including Windows XP/Server 2003, Vista/Server 2008 and Windows 7/Server 2008 R2. It is also compatible with PCL versions starting from PCL4 to the current versions. This utility would let you convert all levels of PCL, PXL and PX3 to text-searchable PDF files. It also supports HPGL/2, color, multipage, landscape, downloadable fonts and macro support. This is a good and handy tool when you need help with printer files based on PCL.
